An honest satire on India versus Pakistan

Director : Vijay Raaz

Cast: Vijay Raaz , Manu Rishi Raj and Vishwajeet Pradhan Zutsi
At the time when international borders are mere information on Google maps and exercises frivolous social media, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is based on an old school thinking . What do these lines mean between countries ? Where do they come ? Why do millions share a feeling of animosity on these divisions? The film answers these questions , although the use of his emotions on his sleeve . Arguably , director Vijay Raaz could have done a better job. But he has given this film his best shot . And given its viewers a point of view on the issue of India against Pakistan honest .

Two soldiers sharing a border dispute . His words shock starts from the difference between Lahore and Delhi, Nehru and Jinnah will and finally is set when they find common ground. It is then that the lines between Lahore and Delhi get confusing . Vijay Raaz plays Rehmat Pakistani soldier and Manu Rishi plays Samarth Indian army officer . This film is like a compact stage production with a handful of actors. Slight production value , but heavy in its dramatic narrative punch and punch.

Gulzar has mentored this personal project by Vijay Raaz , so it reflects a poetic sense of tragedy and redemption , a sort of John Milton Road . Lines like ” toh hain Lakeerein Rehne do. Kisine rooth kar di kheench gusse Shayad mein ” and ” jeena zyada ghanta Adha Ho Toh Pakistan shawl chahte the . Tumse adha ghanta peeche hum hain na ! ” Elegiac have a class about them. They make this simple trip worth the time.

Yet that sense of simplicity is the Achilles heel of this film. Perhaps the dramatic point of support is too humble in his artistic sensibility. That the Indian was shifted from Lahore and Pakistan had to go to Delhi during the partition is a bit too convenient . Development of the plot are predictable Raaz . The climax too is quite predictable. But it all comes together with fervor. Bringing forward and hit enough home an emotional blow .

Raaz performances and Rishi are fantastic. And the direction of Raaz is also sincere. Do not confuse this with another no man’s land . Not as radical as the subject might have been. But it is a satire right heart. Well worth seeing .
